Wenrui Zhao will join the University of Utah as an assistant professor in Fall 2025. Her research mainly focuses on the visual and material cultures of science and medicine in early modern northern Europe and its connections to the wider world. Her current project studies the German artisanal and scientific practitioners who travelled to Southeast Asia in the employ of the Dutch East India Company.
