Oscar is a notoriously messy eater. Like all male Eclectus parrots, he uses his large candy-corn beak to pick up a piece of fruit and flings it across the kitchen floor.

Genie Yoo (she/her) is a historian of island Southeast Asia, working at the intersection of history of science, medicine, environment, and religion. She is currently a Plant Humanities Post-Doctoral Fellow at Dumbarton Oaks and an incoming assistant professor in the Department of History at SUNY Buffalo (Fall '25). She holds a PhD in History from Princeton University.
