Author: Adrienne Brown

Adrienne is a PhD candidate at the Rachel Carson Center in Munich, Germany. Her dissertation project, “Tracing Vanport: The Environmental History of a Forgotten City,” builds on her academic background in disaster studies and their impact on US society, culture, and policy by exploring the broader legacy of Vanport, Oregon, a city built for shipyard employees in 1942 that was tragically destroyed by a flood in 1948.
