Kyuhyun Han

Kyuhyun Han is a Ph.D. Candidate in the History Department at UC Santa Cruz. She studies human-animal relations in modern Chinese history, specifically focusing on the history of the People’s Republic of China. Kyuhyun is currently working on the bureaucratic management of forestry, wildlife conservation, and center-periphery relations in Northeast China from 1949 to present, viewing the forest as a site of complicated relationships between the central government, the local government, local ethnic minorities, and the indigenous environment.
